The plot is a wacky combination of two legends ("fish rains" in Honduras, and, obviously, the Flying Dutchman), but Scarpa makes it work. A complaint I *have* seen is that the whole "ghost ship" plot we're promised in the title is awfully slow to kick in, but I didn't really mind, though it does lead me to give it a 9 rather than a 10. As for Scarpa's art, as for all his 1950's Duck stories, it is odd but engaging. |

Scarpa's forte is his habit of constantly keeping the reader guessing and letting the story take weird turns. That doesn't mean the story is rambling or was made up while it was written (the beginning and end are in tune), but it allows itself time to build up. I'm not such a big fan of his very early art, so "only" 9/10 |
