Andrea Castellan fonde perizia, competenza, passione, amore, arguzia, intelligenza e un'infinità di altri pregi in questa meravigliosa vicenda che cita le storie a strisce tanto nella struttura quanto nelle scene più classiche e amate (da Topolino catturato e interrogato, all'aereoplanino biposto prodigioso, fino allo scontro surreale con la Spia Poeta armata di spada), per non dire addirittura della filologia del recupero di personaggi (la Spia Poeta, Eta Beta), contesti classici (il piccolo regno idilliaco rovinato da un usurpatore) e visionarietà.
Tensione, emozione, avventura, dramma, ironia, divertimento, surrealtà, intrigo alla corte del re, mistero, automi giganti, scenari mozzafiato, battaglie celesti epocali, amore, scienza, fantascienza, fortezze volanti: questa storia ha tutto e anche di più.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow era un film che non valeva niente, ma ora ha l'immenso merito di aver ispirato Castellan a creare questa stupenda (e originale!) vicenda che attualizza i classici più classici, dimostrando come essi siano senza tempo, perchè realizzati da veri maestri. Casty si erge sopra ad ogni altro autore di questo tempo regalandoci un meravigliosa avventura che fonde il classicismo dei grandi autori che lo hanno preceduto (Gottfreddson, Barks, Scarpa, Cimino, Pezzin) all'attualità fanta-tecnologica (i computer odierni sono in grado di risolvere una formula matematica complessa in un lasso di tempo nettamente inferiore a quelli esistenti 30 anni fa) e lo fa con una semplicità e con una maestria sbalorditive.
Una storia senza tempo.
