Today at the 38th Mostra Mercato del Fumetto, the comic-book fair in Reggio Emilia, Italy, and yesterday in Rapallo, Giorgio Pezzin & Giulio Chierchini received the Papersera Prize. Congratulations to both of them for a very much deserved prize!

Photos and all the details will soon be available at the Papersera website. Check it out!

A few new ideas for the collection tool on COA:

1) To avoid selecting by hands hundreds of checkboxes, add an alternative text field interface for selecting issues you own, such as "1-123,501-999" (ranges delimited by commas or annother character). This should be a big improvement, and it will eventually be done.

2) Let people selecting issues they're looking for, and double copies (or issues they may give away/exchange). That way you would be able to who's offering issues you're interested in. Although this could be useful, maybe, I'm not sure we want to be involved in anything that might be commercial. And maybe auction websites are already sufficient ? I'd be interested to have feedbacks on this !

One final thing: an alternative collection managment tool (no connection with Inducks) for French speaking users was recently created. It allows importing one's collection from Inducks, giving the username/password. I've asked the person in charge to ask users to copy/paste from this page instead (it is made for that!) and I suggest not using it for now, as there's no reason to give your COA password to another website. But on the principle, you're of course free to use anny external tool you wish with your data.

Sometime next week we'll upgrade the server to a new (and much better!) machine. It's not yet clear what will happen during the migration but I'll try to have COA be "read-only", so still browsable, for a few days. More information on this later.

Update
The new server has arrived. I plan to make COA-read only tomorrow March 18 March 22 at 20:00 (8 PM) western European time [fr/dk/it]. You shouldn't be able to upload anything after this date (scan, description etc.).

If things work correctly, everything should be up and running one day
after (or a a few more days at worse). But you should at least be able to browse through the website.

Update (2009/03/31)
The new server is up and running.
