Geronimo ha finito la sua pena al carcere di Altacraz e dopo aver costruito il suo imbutofono, bislacco strumento, incontra Topolino che gli offre una stanza ove abitare. L'imbutofono emette strane note, ma dopo dà prova di sè e i due si recano da Mister Magus per la prova. Magus però non apprezza, perché vuole solo uno strumento con particolari note, da affiancare ad un altro strumento, lo zufolo di budda, la cui parola chiave per aprire la cassaforte, come da Magus pensato, è "pistacchio". Viene però rubato lo zufolo e le colpe ricadono su Geronimo. Topolino in realtà scopre che nello strumento era celata una macchina capta pensieri, così Geronimo mentre suonava aveva sentito la parola pistacchio. In realtà non è così perhé la macchina è stata inventata da un altro criminale che aveva nascosto nell'imbutofono e collegata a una sua radio, ricevendo così i pensieri. Geronimo è scagionato, ma ora Magus risente le strane note iniziali, non influenzate dalla macchina, e rivela che lo strumento che cerca è proprio quello. Dà così a Geronimo 100.000 dollari.
